Neyer, Urban Sites Celebrate ‘Brick Breaking’ for The Hayden AL. NEYER, URBAN SITES CELEBRATE ‘BRICK BREAKING’ FOR THE HAYDEN It’s pretty amazing coming together to celebrate the start of a project, five years in the making. As project partners, we joke that we have all become like family – but that certainly is the case. This project is able to move forward and become a reality thanks to the collaboration of both city and county officials, as well as key individuals who are coming together to transform this vacant building into a place where people are proud to live, and businesses love to work. Development partners Al. Neyer and Urban Sites commemorated the start of the redevelopment of a former Kenton County Administrative Building and jail at 103 E 3rd Street in Covington, Kentucky, last week with a ‘brick breaking’ ceremony event. The co-developers hosted community and project partners, including Kenton County Judge-Executive Kris Knochelmann and Covington Mayor Joe Meyer, on the active job site, and invited guests to swing sledgehammers into the original brick façade before a happy hour at Smoke Justis next door. About The Hayden Working alongside Kenton County, the City of Covington, and the Covington Independent School District board, Al. Neyer and Urban Sites are partnering on the building’s revitalization over the next two years. The adaptive reuse project, called ‘The Hayden at Roebling Point’, will become a Class A development, including 133 residential units and approximately 6,000 SF of ground-floor commercial space. The project will include stripping the building’s brick façade down to its 1969-concrete core, gutting the interiors, removing the jail cells, adding a new exterior with balconies, and various improvements along the addition facing Scott Street including a new surface parking lot. ‘The Hayden’ will be co-developed by Al. Neyer and Urban Sites, with Al. Neyer handling construction on the project. Elevar Design Group is serving as architect, with THP Limited, Inc. as structural engineer and Cardinal Engineering as engineer. Urban Sites will handle property management of ‘The Hayden’; more information can be found at livehayden.com. Learn more about the project here.
