Al. Neyer Welcomes Former Highwoods President & CEO Ed Fritsch to Board of Directors

RALEIGH, NC, May 28, 2024 – Design-build developer Al. Neyer is proud to announce the appointment of Ed Fritsch to its board of directors. The addition of Fritsch to the board underscores the company’s dedication to growth as a leading developer, especially in the high-growth markets of the Southeast.

Ed Fritsch, who retired as President and CEO of Highwoods Properties, Inc. (NYSE: HIW) after 37 years with the company, brings a wealth of expertise in commercial real estate. During his long tenure at Highwoods, Fritsch played many roles, from property management to asset management, development, operations, and executive leadership.

“Ed’s track record of leadership and involvement in the commercial real estate community aligns perfectly with our vision for the future” said Molly North, CEO of Al. Neyer. “His insights and guidance will be invaluable as we continue to expand our footprint and establish ourselves as a major player in the Triangle and throughout the Southeast.”

“Joining Al. Neyer’s board of directors is an exciting chapter for me,” said Ed Fritsch. “The company combines the energy of a young firm with the solid foundation of deep real estate experience. Its expansion into the Southeast over the past decade presents new opportunities, and I look forward to working with my fellow board members and management to guide this growth.”

This May also marks Al. Neyer’s fifth anniversary of its Triangle office opening. In the past five years, Al. Neyer’s local team has grown to 14 full-time employee-owners and has developed 3.7 million square feet of industrial space from Johnston County to Greensboro, including Raleigh, Durham, and Orange County. This includes projects such as the 5-building Garner Business Park 70 in Wake County, the 5-building Buckhorn Industrial Park, and McConnell Business Park in Guilford County.

“Ed’s addition to Al. Neyer’s board of directors is not just about expanding our reach in the Carolinas and the Southeast, but also about leveraging a leader with a profound impact at both the company and local community levels,” said Justin Parker, VP, Triangle Market Leader at Al. Neyer. “His extensive experience and leadership, particularly in leading Highwoods Properties, coupled with his deep commitment to philanthropy and the local community make him a great addition to the board. Ed’s appointment is a testament to his long-standing mentorship, which has been invaluable to many, including myself, for nearly two decades.”

Al. Neyer’s board of directors includes:

  • Board Chair S. Christian Nielsen, III, Chairman, Life is Sweet Brands
