1,900-SEAT, 12-SCREEN THEATER SPOTLIGHTS POTENTIAL FOR NEW RETAIL/RESTAURANT DEVELOPMENT NEAR STATE ROUTE 21 AND CHERRY ROAD NW INTERSECTION
Cincinnati, Ohio - Al. Neyer, Inc., a national commercial real estate developer and design-build firm, will officially break ground tomorrow at 1 p.m. on a new theatre complex at 175 Cherry Road NW in Massillon, Ohio, for Aliance Entertainment. The 48,300-square-foot movie complex represents an $8 million investment by Aliance, an Indiana-based owner and developer of Great Escape Theatres. Al. Neyer is providing all design/build services for the project.
James Marcus, vice president of construction and property management for Aliance Entertainment, says the theater project represents a significant addition to Massillon's efforts to encourage new retail/restaurant development at State route 21, near downtown.
"The city of Massillon's contributions to getting this project started have been tremendous," Marcus says. "We appreciate the partnership that's developed."
According to Chris Knueven, Al. Neyer vice president of design-build, "We've designed Great Escape Massillon 12 to provide a safe, attractive and state-of-the-art entertainment venue for its patrons, first and foremost. Aliance Entertainment has a commitment to providing the finest movie-going experience available. It will be a wonderful addition to the city of Massillon."
"Great Escape Massillon will have a very appealing, Art Deco look," Knueven explains, "recalling the glory days of Hollywood." Inside, a high-quality sound system and stadium seating are planned.
Aliance Entertainment owns and operates about 125 movie screens in various Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Indiana locations and is among the fastest growing and most successful theatre development companies in the country.
Aliance President Anne Ragains says the theater will show first-run films and accommodate 1,908 moviegoers in stadium seating, with a digital sound system. "Great Escape 12 will be open by May 2005," Ragains says.
